A glimpse into the world of the most successful American football coach and six-time Super Bowl winner, whose roots go back to Draganić near Karlovac
In the American sports calendar, there is no event that attracts as much attention and emotion as the Super Bowl. The final game of the American football season has long since stopped to be a mere sports competition, becoming a social and cultural phenomenon. Along with a top-level sporting spectacle, the Super Bowl offers lavish marketing campaigns, entertainment and global media coverage, reaffirming its status as one of the most significant events of the year.
Bill Belichick, a coach of Croatian descent, undoubtedly stands out as one of the key figures in the Super Bowl’s history. His uncompromising pursuit of perfection, crowned with a record six Vince Lombardi trophies, has firmly secured his place among the most influential and successful strategists of American football.
As a guest of honour at the Zadar sports and media festival, Bill Belichick spent a few days in Croatia last June.
‘I’m really happy to be able to participate in the Sunset Sports Media Festival and explore different parts of Croatia. Visiting my grandparents’ home in Draganić was really a special experience for me. I feel a close connection to this country and I’m proud of my Croatian roots’, said the coach with the most championship wins in American football.
